Pupil Leadership
Our Pupil Parliament at Buglawton Primary School
This year, we are proud to introduce our new Pupil Parliament, which has replaced the former School Council.
The Parliament is organised into four ministerial departments: Behaviour Ministers, Safety Ministers, Eco Ministers, and Wellbeing Ministers.
Each department includes one representative from Years 2 to 6, ensuring that every year group has a voice in shaping school life.
Our ministers were elected through a democratic class vote, giving pupils the opportunity to experience the importance of representation and active participation in decision-making.
Head Boy and Girl
From September 2026, our Head Boy is Rafe Jervis, and our Head Girl is Annabelle Fairbrother. They were voted into their roles through a whole school ballot and were clear winners following a speech made to the whole school! They represent the school in different ways and are role models to the other children. Their duties include showing visitors around our school, modelling outstanding behaviour, representing the school at public events, and speaking at celebrations and assemblies. They also have the important job of chairing Pupil Parliament meetings and meeting with the Headteacher regularly.
The Pupil Parliament is the voice of the pupils: each class forwards their ideas of how to improve the school or issues that are to be discussed to their representatives to bring to the meeting.
Year 6 Roles and Responsibilities
Our Year 6 pupils are invited to apply for different responsibilities and roles that represent their peers. They are as follows:
Head Boy & Girl: To represent the pupils of the school in all aspects of school life and external events
Members of the Pupil Parliament: A boy and a girl that represent each class to discuss continued school improvement
Hive Captains: A boy and a girl that represent each Hive and lead in inter-Hive competitions
Buddies: Year 5 and 6 pupils are buddies to pupils in Reception and Year 1 ensuring that they settle into the school and are supported
Antibullying Ambassadors: 10 year 6 pupils attended antibullying training held by the Diana trust and are now trained ambassdors for our school.
Peer mediators: 10 children in year 6 are trained to mediate small disagreements on the playground. The help to reslolve falling outs from Recpetion to Year 6.
