All classes follow the National Curriculum scheme of work for Music and we ensure a progression of skills from EYFS to year 6. Music forms part of all topics and is part of our broad and balanced curriculum.
At Buglawton, Year 3 children receive weekly violin lessons from an expert teacher. In addition, during the school day, a number of children have the opportunity for personal music lessons. The instruments currently being taught include piano, guitar, and clarinet. All of these lessons are taught by Music for Life.
In the Spring term, childen in key stage 2 are given the oppotunity to take part in the Young Voices concert held at Manchester arena. In preparation for this, they attend a weekly choir rehearsal after school, which is ran by school staff. We believe this is a fantastic opportunity to sing and perform to an audience on a large scale and is a fantastic experience.
